Neurofeedback
Measuring Brain Activity:
The human brain is an electrical organ. Your brain cells communicate with one another to send information via electrical impulses and are active all the time, even when you are asleep. These electrical impulses or "Brainwaves" are measured through EEG (electroencephalography) sensors, which reads this electrical activity via the surface of the head or scalp.
These EEG readings are used to assess the electrical activity of the brain at multiple locations to determine where improvements can be made. This activity shows up as wavy lines on an EEG recording.
There are several levels of brainwave activity, and these correspond to different
mental states, shown in the following illustration
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback that works to optimise the brain's electrical activity. It's a non-pharmaceutical, reward-based training system for your brain that uses EEG (electroencephalography) sensors In order to function at it's best your brain needs healthy fast- and slow-moving brainwave activity.
Neurofeedback was first discovered in the 1950’s as a form of operant conditioning, in which the brain changes its activities as as result of stimuli, or positive or negative feedback
Neurofeedback has been used in clinics around the world for decades, and clinical research has shown it to be effective in optimizing brain functions as well as treating many neurological conditions with lasting results.

How does Neurofeedback Work:
Neurofeedback training is rooted in neuroplasticity, which means the brain’s ability to rewire itself to function at its peak. Training is driven by the efficiency of the brain’s electrical activity. If the efficiency of the brain is optimal, it will receive positive reinforcement. If the efficiency of the brain becomes less than optimal, it will receive a negative punishment, like the pause of a movie. Over time, the brain learns from the positive reinforcements to become more balance and resilient.
Brain Mechanics' Neurofeedback regulates the brain's electrical activity during the simple activity of watching a video or by playing video games with brain to computer interfaces.
What is used in the Training:
B rain Mechanics innovative approach to Neurofeedback allows our clients to train comfortably from their home using a wearable device and a mobile app while a team of experts monitor your brain activity and progress remotely. Brain Mechanics neurofeedback training requires an EEG headset that is placed on the head. Once connected, you can start playing games that are controlled by your brainwaves. Through playing these games, your brain will learn to better regulate itself.
Is Neurofeedback Safe?
Yes. Neurofeedback is a non-invasive technique which helps a person learn how to control, or self-regulate, their brain waves. The headset is simply used to listen to and record the brainwaves, it doesn’t transmit or otherwise change anything in the brain.
Through the process of simply wearing the headset and playing the games the brain will teach itself to better regulate its activities. Neurofeedback was first discovered in the 1950’s as a form of operant conditioning, in which the brain changes its activities as as result of stimuli, or positive or negative feedback.
